Request a Personalized Broker Plan of AttackStep 2: Submit your Broker License Application and all of the Required Educational Documents to the TREC "MyLicense" System
Once you have completed your courses at Champions, you will now need to submit your education and brokers application to TREC in the "My License" system on the Texas Real Estate Commission’s website at www.trec.texas.gov. Click on "Begin Here for Sign-Up" and follow the steps to create an account. Once an account is created you will apply for a new license. The application fee for a Real Estate Brokers license is $305.
If you have college credit or a college degree, you will need to scan and send in your education documents via email to documents@trec.texas.gov or fax copies to 512-936-3864.
Step 3: Take the State Exam Prep Class at Champions School of Real Estate
Once you have submitted your application to TREC, it can take them as long as four weeks to review your application and education. During this review period, we highly recommend that you complete the Real Estate Exam Prep course to ensure that you are prepared for the State and National Exam. This class will take the guesswork and stress out of testing. You may repeat the course as many times as you want for a full year at no additional cost to you! We recommend taking the Prep class at least two times and passing with an 80% or better before taking the actual exam.
Step 4: Receive Your Letter from the State and Take the State Broker License Exam at Pearson VUE
Once you receive your exam eligibility letter and instructions to access the "Candidate Handbook" from TREC, you must schedule to take your exam with Pearson Vue. Appointments can be made by calling (800) 997-1248 or visiting ww.pearsonvue.com/tx/realestate/. The cost is $39 payable to Pearson Vue.
About the Exam - Similar to the Sales Agent exam, the Texas Real Estate Broker state exam is divided into two sections, National and State, and will consist of 145 questions (85 National / 60 State) which include pretest questions that are not scored and do not affect a candidate's score).
You have a total of 4 hours to complete the exam. You must answer 60 questions correctly on the national examination and 38 questions correctly on the state examination to pass. You will know if you have passed the exam before you leave the testing center. You will know if you have passed the exam before you leave the testing center.
Step 5: Wait for your License to Arrive
You cannot practice real estate as a Texas Real Estate Broker until you have received a physical copy of your brokers license.
