Continuing Education (CE) Online Classes

This real estate course is intended to satisfy part of the continuing education requirement for Oklahoma Broker licensees and other licensees who wish to meet their CE requirements. This course will introduce student to general licensing requirements, and then discusses broker responsibilities, supervision, place of business, advertising, disclosure requirements, trust accounts, investigations and management skills. Students will also get an opportunity to go over the statutes and rules of the Commission and other related federal laws relating to real estate.

Who must take this course?

Section 605:10-3-6(l) of the Oklahoma Rules requires that real estate sales associates and broker associates to take at least one hour each in six required topics, and the remaining hours can be made up of elective hours or the "Broker In Charge" 15-hour course. NOTE: If you hold or have held a Broker Manager, Proprietor Broker or Branch Broker license during any portion of your current license term, you must take the "Broker In Charge" course. As of September 12, 2014, all Out-of-State licensees are required to take the Oklahoma-specific Contract and Forms, Codes and Rules, and Broker Relationships Act courses.

This real estate course will address the importance of the duties a Broker needs to know when working with parties to a transaction. The student will learn who must have a real estate license when selling or buying in Oklahoma.

This real estate course will help the student avoid many of the pitfalls made when not acting in a fiduciary manner. The student will also learn how and why a license can be suspended and recognize actions that a broker is responsible for.

This real estate course will address Section 858-363 in the Oklahoma Rules to help the student gain useful knowledge from a different perspective while learning about offers, contracts, the expiration of buyer's right to cancel the contract, and buyer's responsibility. Student will also learn about Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act of 1980 (FIRPTA).

This real estate course will address the regulatory aspects of the Equal Opportunity in Housing laws, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Housing Credit Discrimination laws, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The course provides the student an understanding of the HUD, ADA, ECOA, and the CRA Acts. The student will also learn about what to watch for to prevent discrimination in the sale and rental of housing.

October 3, 2015 the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) made changes to the Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure forms. This course will give the student an overview of the new TILA RESPA integrated disclosure (TRID) rule. The Loan Estimate form combines the elements of the Good Faith Estimate and the initial Truth-in-Lending disclosure into one easy to read disclosure form.

The course also includes a preview of some of the up and coming technology that will impact the future of the real estate industry. In this course, students learn how to be noticed on social media; how to stand out in a world of advertisements and gain clients through the use of social media. Students learn how to add effective social media to their current advertising, how to use the most common social media tools like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

This course counts toward the Professional Conduct (PSC) required by OREC. The Code of Ethics was adopted in 1913 and contains 17 Articles in the Standard of Practice and is mandated training by the National Association of Realtors® for its members. Having a solid foundation of the Standard of Practice is essential to any day-to-day business practice. Real estate agents have an obligation to deal ethically with their clients and others in their day-to-day transactions and operations.
